During the early 1900s Chikuseki made more than ten woodblock prints of flowers and (or) birds. Twenty of these prints are included in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Each print is almost square, which is an unusual format for Japanese flower-bird prints. The flowers and birds were drawn using true-to-life colors but the shapes of birds were sometimes distorted to help suggest movement and action. These action prints are the most entertaining of Chikuseki’s designs.
